Pertaining to the role of content in the marketing plan, a big differentiator of effectiveness and maturity level is the existence of a documented content marketing strategy. Does your strategy not only contain the target audience and the outcomes, but also a detailed perspective on the personas and their respective buyer’s journey?

The consensus at SMASH was the evolution away from campaign-centric planning to a broader and more comprehensive development of an audience. Once we understand the behaviors and motivations of our personas, are we delivering content to help them accomplish their goals and objectives? Are we supporting each of them on their buyer’s journey?

2018 Technology Strategy

Second, while it’s clear that technology is a means to an end, it’s so important to make the most out of the investment. The focus is not on the tech itself, but the outcomes and efficiencies it creates.

Everyone wants to know how to track their ideal resident from the first moment of engagement all the way to becoming a loyal advocate. Having a tech stack is not enough. First, we must have the strategy in place and the team and resources aligned to make it happen.
