It doesn’t matter if you view this article from a consumer perspective or as someone in the marketing world, this review of 80 years of Advertising Age is informative, interesting and entertaining. It serves as a reflective blast from the past leading up to today’s more recent events and changes in the world of brands and agencies. One mention that stood out in my mind was the fact noted that in 1933, the percentage of US Homes with a radio surpassed the halfway mark at 55.2% up from zero in 1921. That is a definite “WOW” for me when you consider that people now might listen to their music at home pulling it up from their Itunes library through their laptops. Boy, have times changed. Enjoy your walk down memory lane!
