G+ Marks the Spot

 

As you may have noticed if you use Google Places, Google has made some huge changes. In an attempt to shore up their Google+ service, they’ve migrated Google Places listings into Google+ Local. For right now, there isn’t a big change to functionality but in the future, you’ll be able to link your business’ Google+ profile with the Google+ Local listings and even have individual locations take advantage of the social features of Google+.

If everything works according to Google’s plan, this has the potential to be a huge asset. You could use the new features for each location to really build a community or respond to customer feedback quickly. And since Google indexes Google+ pages for their search results, each branch gets a little bonus boost in their organic search ranking!
